 Raymond Lewis is the founder of Greypath. He is an ex RAAF navigator, high tech entrepreneur and public company chairman. His interests include DIY, marine science & wildlife care, diving, writing, environmental photography, educational video making, aged sector advocacy, disabilities sector support and business. He worked with Bob Whiteway to campaign for the Ricketts Point Marine Sanctuary for 16 years, which was finally established in 2003. Ray has lived in Beaumaris for decades and worked tirelessly since then for the community and to care and protect this beautiful place for future generations. He was the Victorian Senior Achiever of the year in 2007, was awarded a Coastal Heroes Medal in 2008 (marine environment sector advocacy) and an OAM in 2009. In 2014 he was appointed Bayside Council’s Environmentalist of the Year.

Professor John Buckeridge – E:

John Buckeridge PhD, FGS lives 300 metres from Rickett’s Point, Beaumaris with his wife, June. He is Professor and palaeobiologist at RMIT University, Melbourne, Australia. He is a member of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences; Past President of the International Union of Biological Sciences (Paris); President Emeritus of the International Society of Zoological Science (Beijing); past member of the Executive Board of the International Council for Science (Paris) and Honorarprofessor at Wismar University (Germany).

Virginia’s passions are marine environment, sustainability in the natural and urban environments, marine ecosystems, biotechnology, community engagement, education leading to  behaviour change. Virginia achieved her undergrad degree from Melbourne University in Marine Biology, Genetics and Zoology. She went on to complete a Post-Grad Diploma at the University of Western Australia and then (almost a PhD) Master of Science degree under the watchful eyes of Professor Lyn Beazley and Dr Julia Shand. Both amazing women served as strong role models to Virginia and will always be held with the deepest respect and admiration. She has wide-ranging experience providing high level project management, research skills, event organisation, administration and personal assistance to the CEO and Managers of many organisations; industry, private, NFPs, local government, etc. working in Perth, Sydney, Melbourne and Northern Vietnam. She is flexible and adaptable, and delights in being a pivotal contact point for liaison with the internal and external community. Prior to becoming a local resident of Beaumaris two years ago, Virginia lovingly served for several years in many roles for MESAC, MCRP and Beach Patrol Ricketts Point.
